While holidays are meant for relaxing, you want to make sure your baby is still moving about, learning and being stimulated.
Even before your baby has started to crawl, you should encourage any form of movement. Initiate supervised play on the floor and encourage your baby to reach for things, pull and push objects or toys. Don’t let baby get stuck lying down or idle in a chair for too long.
Talk and chit-chat should be happening all the time, and you can throw in a few songs and rhymes as well to keep things interesting.
The festive season is a great time for dancing to old classics and merry jingles. Put on some music and encourage your little one to dance along with you.
Go for a walk with baby in the stroller. While it’s you doing the physical activity here, you’re providing a change of scenery, some interesting things to look at and some fresh air.
Whether you’re doing laundry or preparing a meal, keep your little one around so they can watch what you’re doing. Babies learn an enormous amount simply by being around and being included. Before you know it, you’ll have an assistant to help you sort through pairs of socks!
