Toddlers are beginning to explore different tastes and textures when eating. Providing healthy snacks is a great way to make sure they get the nutrients they need and prevent them from getting hungry between meals. Check out these snack ideas for the little ones.
Parents are probably tired of hearing about fresh fruit, but this is just about the best idea when it comes to snacking – for any age group. So get slicing or make a fruit salad. Opt for seasonal fruit that is inexpensive and tasty.
Dried fruit has a different texture and taste to fresh fruit, and is very useful for a quick snack when you don’t have a lot of time. Stock up on some dried pears, peaches or apricots.
Ice cold fruit lollies
Blitz some fresh fruit in a blender with a little 100% fruit juice or water. Then pour into moulds and add a few slices of fresh fruit to add texture before popping the moulds into the freezer for easy summer treats.
Raw vegetables are wonderfully healthy, but often they are difficult for little children to digest. Instead, cram those veggies in by preparing some cooked veggies and dicing them into easy to chew pieces.
Yogurt and cheese are great snack foods, and wonderful sources of calcium. Very little is needed in the way of preparation, so be sure you have good dairy products in the fridge. You can also add some fruit to yoghurt and whip up a delicious smoothie as a snack.
