Summer is here, but with it brings an abundance of questions on how best to dress your little one. Rest assured, all you need to do is follow your maternal instinct and keep in mind the following tips to help you ensure your baby is as happy as ever in the summer sun!
Feeling hot, hot, hot
The first tip is simply to dress your child the way you dress yourself. In summer, you wouldn't want to wear long-sleeved tops, so neither does your baby. They need to feel comfortable and be able to enjoy the sun without getting hot and bothered. On the other hand, always carry a little blanket or cardigan with you in your baby bag for those cooler moments when the sun goes in.
Cotton clothes are the best choice throughout the summer. They reduce perspiration, even in the case of high temperatures. As for the choice of colours, go for lighter shades: white, beige, yellow etc. Think pastel shades as the best colour palette as they don’t retain the heat, unlike darker colours.
Dress to impress
Your little one may be feeling hot, but they should never have a bare tummy. Keep them covered with a light T-shirt that goes all the way down to the waist to make sure draughts won't bother them. For their bottom and legs though, there are no particular rules! It's no problem to let them feel the fresh air on those areas of their little bodies!
Finally, make sure you keep them protected with a light sunscreen and consider some sunglasses and a hat too to really keep them shaded. As well as protecting against sunburn, these accessories will make them look more adorable than you even thought possible!
